The History of Warner, NH
In 1735, Massachusetts Governor Jonathan Belcher granted the community now known as Warner to Massacusett petitioners from Amesbury. They called the area New Amesbury.
The community, along with several others in the area, was meant to protect Massachusetts residents from the advancements of New France.
By 1749, the Masonian Proprietors had re-granted the community and called it Jennesstown. But that community was abandoned and destroyed during the French and Indian War.
After a short stint as Amesbury in 1767, the community was finally incorporated as Warner in 1774. It was named after Portsmouth citizen Jonathan Warner, who was a relative of Governor John Wentworth.
Today, many historians believe that Warner was one of the last towns to be established under English provincial rule before the onset of the American Revolution.
The community thrived as a farming community for many years before diversifying its economic base to include water power mills, saw mills, clothing factories, and more!
Education in Warner
Warner area residents attend several ranked public schools, such as:

- Kearsarge Regional Middle School
- Kearsarge Regional High School
Warner, NH is also home to The College of Saint Mary Magdalen, a private higher education facility.
